5 Days To My Blog - Day 3 - Creating Your Blog

#5Days2MyBlog

Welcome to Day 3 of our #5Days2MyBlog online training event and congratulations for remaining steadfast and coming this far.

Yesterday we made a distinction between free and paid domain names and hosts and the fact that you would be at liberty to actually choose what to work with when your blog is set up.

Today we are going into the meat of the matter.

We are commencing our initial descent into the world wide web.

So..........

1.      Go to your search browser and type in http://blogspot.com

2.      When it opens, you would be looking at the sign in dialog on the right, so you sign in with your gmail address which you must have opened and then input your password

If the check box that says keep me signed in is checked and you are working on  a system that is not yours, then uncheck it

3.      When you have signed into your gmail account, then the sign up for blogger page will pop out and you would be required to fill in some details
a.       Your gmail address (something@gmail.com)
b.      Your Name
c.       Your display name (the name that other people will see as the owner - you can use Admin)
d.      Email notification (input your email address again)
e.       Gender
f.       Acceptance of terms and conditions (check the box)

then click on continue

4.      When the next page opens, you would be looking at the blogger dashboard.

The dashboard provides you with information and details with regards to your blog. You can manage your existing blog from there or even create new ones with the same gmail account.

So click on "Create your blog now"

5.      When the next page opens, you would be required to
a.       Name your blog (your domain name comes here under the blog title)
b.      Enter the blog address (still your domain name) check for availability of the domain name by clicking on the check for availability button beside it; if the name is available, it will indicate a green sign but if is taken, it will indicate so and also give you suggestions of domain names to use.

But if you don't like any of the suggested domain names, you can continue to choose and check the availability of your own names until one becomes available for you to use.

6.      When you have an available domain name, click on continue and you would be taken to another page.

7.      At the next turn you would be asked to choose a starter template, select the simple template and click on continue

8.      When the next page turns on, you would receive the message that "You have successfully created your own blog"

So, Hurray!!! Congratulations, now you have your own blog.

Day 3 ends here
We have literally speaking taken by hand and helped you to create a blog with blogspot as the free host.
