It Is Official: Netanyahu Will Form The Next Coalition

President Rivlin held the second round of meetings on Monday; expected to give Netanyahu the task of putting together a coalition after Kulanu Chairman Moshe Kaclon was the last party representative to recommend the head of Likud.

It is official: with the support of 61 MKs, Netanyahu has gained the required majority to form the new government.

After 51 Members of the Knesset already handed President Rivlin their recommendation yesterday (Sun), Moshe Kahlon’s party Kulanu (10 seats) didn’t stand in Netanyahu’s way and endorsed his candidacy.

"We accept the people’s decision; Netanyahu will form the next government," told Kahlon to the President this morning; “I recommend you (President) to give Netanyahu the task to form the 34th government.”

On his way out of the President’s Residence, Kahlon added that in his meeting with Rivilin he also expressed his concerns regarding the enlarging rifts in the Israeli sociality.

“We agreed to ‘heal’ the rifts in attempt to bring together parts of Israeli society,” said Kahlon, “we believe it is far more important than the task of forming a coalition.”

President Rivlin also addressed the matter shortly after Kahlon’s recommendation: “At this moment, 61 MK’s endorsed Netanyahu – he will be given the task to put together the next coalition.”

If Lieberman and his party, Yisrael Beiteinu, recommend Netanyahu for the task of forming a coalition, the Prime Minister will have the support of 67 MKs.
