The Best Time To Start An Online Business Was Yesterday

These are definitely not the best of times in Nigeria albeit the World and it all has to be due to the economic meltdown that started sometime in the early 2000.

Each year brings with it, its own casualties and calamities even though as it comes we celebrate with the greeting "Happy New Year" and a prayer that "the New Year should be better than the Old Year".

On a general level, it does appear that each new year turns out worse than the old year.

And talking of worse times, the gale of job losses witnessed in Nigeria in the last 7 months of 2015 have more than doubled in the first 5 months of 2016.

Companies  after Companies  have continued to declare redundancy due to the harsh economic environment  and a Government that has no clear cut economic policy and which has allowed and infact even encouraged the free fall of the Naira to the point of asking Entrepreneurs to source for Foreign Exchange on their own for the purposes of doing business in Nigeria.

While some Companies have declared redundancy (as if those persons are not human beings), some others have gone ahead to SACK so many of their workers.

The most recent is ECOBANK that woke up one morning and sacked 1,040 workers following what it described as the "Harsh Business Environment in 2015" when it posted over N40bn decline in its profit for the 2015 financial year.

DIAMOND BANK also SACKED over 200 workers and FBN Holdings, the parent company of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, recently said it would prune the number of its employees by 1,000.

It is therefore very obvious that Companies see employees as NUMBERS that can be reduced at any time without remorse or compassion.

So any worker in this Country still working under the illusion that his or her job is SECURED has another think coming.

And that is why, at no time is the advise to establish an ONLINE BUSINESS better than NOW.

You might delude yourself with the cliche "I have no time" or "I am too busy" because you are working, but that's just what it is 'DELUSION'; nobody actually prays for a "Bad day" but bad days MUST come and those who overcome bad days are those who have a FALLBACK platform or status.

It is unfortunate that year after year, this piece of advise is given out and people get high hearing it but as soon as they leave the room where they heard it, they forget it until the bad day comes and then they start regretting that they did not put into action what they heard some years back.

You that is reading this piece, don't also make the same mistake that lots of others have made before you.

If you are currently working at an 8 - 4 or 9 - 6 job, by all means WORK but for the sole purpose of establishing  a fallback platform SET UP AN ONLINE BUSINESS.

And don't give me that lame duck excuse of "LACK OF CAPITAL" because not all businesses are about BUYING and SELLING.  

Online Business is not the same as Traditional Business where you require loads of money to start because you have to rent a shop, keep records in hard paper, keep inventory, pay bills for environment, water, electricity and all that; and also hire employees who help to run down the business.

Most online businesses require very little capital or even free to start.

Today, let me remind you again that "the best time to start an online business was YESTERDAY and the next best time is TODAY"
