Sesame Street To Be Reduced To Half An Hour

Yeah, I was going through the "Nightmare Fuel" section for the show a couple of days back on TVTropes and amazed by what they let on the air.

I kind of wish the show had the experimental variety it used to have, even though I'm sure it was a good decision to polish and standardize the "voice" of the show.

But Sesame Street had a huge hand in shaping my sensibilities and I'm sad to see some of that stuff which felt pretty key to its character leave, even if a lot of that older stuff didn't quite land.

So out of curiosity, most of those old skits and songs and animated things and such are gone, right?

Whenever I flip through to Sesame Street it seems like it's almost entirely new material or recycled "Find Ernie"-type stuff. Does any of that grainier, offbeat or not explicitly instructive stuff still exist?

I guess what I'm asking is if Ernie's song about what he wants to be, and Wubba Wubba, and Teeny Little Super Guy and Monsterpiece Theater and whatnot have been condemned to the video collections

They almost never show anything from before the switch to HD. But there's a Sesame Street app, and a video player on their website, and a YouTube channel full of classic clips, so there's a ton of old stuff out there.

Not surprising considering when you remove 'Elmo's World' from the show it's really a 30 minute episode. I know this from recording a few episodes for my younger sister - she didn't like the Elmo segment - I would just end recording 35 minutes tops.
